Dr Loo is a practising Consultant Paediatrician and Neonatology in Mahkota Medical Centre. She started practising Paediatric medicine in 2002. After completing her post-graduate studies (MRCPCH) from UK in Paediatrics in 2007, she went on to sub-specialise in the field of Neonatology. She ended her fellowship training in KK Women and Children Hospital, Singapore in 2013 and is now a gazetted neonatologist under the National Specialist Registry, Malaysia.
Dr Loo’s areas of expertise include diagnosis and management of all kinds of newborn and general paediatric conditions. As for newborn or infant care, she provides newborn screening, resuscitation and stabilisation of critically ill babies (both preterm and term babies) and neonatal intensive care. She handles all newborn and infant conditions such as jaundice, feeding issues, providing breastfeeding support to nursing mothers, growth and development follow up. As for general paediatric, she is experienced in diagnosis and management of childhood related conditions, providing acute care and following up on chronic illnesses. She provides immunizations to children, performs developmental milestones and growth assessments too.
Apart from clinical work, Dr Loo is actively involved in continuous medical education. She regularly participates in various national and international conferences and has numerous oral and poster presentations under her name in various meetings and congresses. She frequently gives health-related talks to both doctors and nurses/paramedics, including the public. In her years of government service, she was appointed to be a supervisor for master students of Master in Paediatrics, Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine for various local universities. She was also an honorary lecturer for the Paediatric Faculty for Melaka Manipal Medical College and Post Basic Neonatal Nursing Degree programme.
Dr Loo is a passionate breastfeeding advocate too. She was previously appointed to be the breastfeeding facilitator for Hospital Selayang and Hospital Melaka and served as a trainer for Melaka state.
