Dr Chan Chee Ken is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon in Mahkota Medical Centre, Melaka, sub-specialising in hip and knee surgery. He is renowned for achieving a very low complication rate post-surgery.
Dr Chan obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) from University Malaya in 2004 and completed his Masters in Orthopaedic Surgery (MS Orth) in 2012. A strong believer in continuous learning, he pursued his Fellowship in Arthroplasty at University Malaya, Malaysia in 2015 and Chonnam National University Hospital, South Korea in 2016. That same year, Dr Chan was awarded a travelling Fellowship in Arthroplasty at Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane and Royal Adelaide Hospital, Adelaide Australia by Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA). Two years later, he went for a Travelling Trauma Fellowship in Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore India. During those fellowship programmes, Dr Chan perfected his knowledge and skill in the treatment of joint replacements and trauma surgeries, particularly peri-prosthetic joint infection and fractures, recurrent dislocation, complex fractures and sports injuries.
Prior to joining Mahkota Medical Centre, Dr Chan served as Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, University Malaya. A highly-rated lecturer, he was awarded the Best Lecturer in 2013/2014 and 2015/2016. In order to continue learning and sharing knowledge, he continues to speak at local and international conferences. Not only is he active in clinical research and publication, but he is also a reviewer for the Malaysia Orthopaedic Journal as well as Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery (APOA).
Dr Chan served as Council Member of Malaysian Orthopaedic Association (MOA) from 2014 to 2016. In 2019, he was elected as the Secretary General of Malaysian Society for Hip and Knee Surgeons (MSHKS).
